Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Workbook, Volume 2

40 + Fun Activities & Comics to Practice Self-Compassion When Life Feels Hard

Foreword by Dr. Kristin Neff, PhD | Based on Research-Backed MSC-CC

This playful, research-based activity book helps children ages 6–12 practice mindfulness and self-compassion in real-life situations. Through comics, guided activities, and Flame the Dragon’s journey, kids learn how to respond with kindness and courage when life feels challenging.

Volume 2 is especially supportive for kids who struggle with anxiety, anger, self-criticism, or motivation, and for caregivers looking for practical ways to support kids when feelings get stuck or overwhelming.

Volume 2 can be used on its own, though it builds naturally on Volume 1’s foundation of naming emotions, mindful awareness, and introducing self-kindness.

What Does Volume 2 Help Kids Practice?

Volume 2 invites kids into six adventures across Sweet Meadow and Magic Mountains, where they practice self-compassion skills in moments that feel emotionally intense.

Practice Self-Compassion in Real Moments

Kids don’t just learn about self-compassion. They practice it in real moments. Volume 2 introduces skills like comforting gestures, the three parts of self-compassion, and kind self-talk, then helps kids use them when big emotions arise.

Learn Alongside Flame the Dragon

Kids help Flame work through familiar challenges, including big emotions, sticky thoughts, and hidden feelings. By supporting Flame’s journey, kids practice self-compassion strategies they can use in their lives.

Build a Personal Resilience Toolkit

The five Resilience Habit Animals help kids explore different ways to respond when emotions show up, so they can discover which habits support them best in different situations.

These skills support kids in everyday challenges at home, school, and beyond.

Related Testimonials

“After working through the activities in the workbooks, I observe that my eight-year old is gradually more open to practicing self-compassion when she is having a hard time. I don’t notice huge, amazing changes, but I do notice changes that I believe will be long-lasting and will genuinely help her into adulthood. Completing this workbook for my daughter helps me feel like she is going to be okay!”

I think it’s fun that there are pictures of real kids by the quotes that those kids said. Sometimes, I actually want to do the workbook because it really helps me.
