Resilience Habit Animal Songs for Kids

Growing Self-Compassion Through Music and Play

You and your child will enjoy these simple, playful self-compassion songs–one for each Resilience Habit Animal. The songs are designed for young children, so they are repetitive and easy to sing along with. Older kids who use the Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Workbooks for Kids often enjoy singing along too. These songs help children internalize the voice of self-compassion.

We Are In It Together

Before we started writing the new Resilience Habit Animal songs, our family created a song called “We Are In It Together.” Maya composed the music, and my daughters and I wrote the lyrics about self-compassion. We recorded it together as a family as a reminder of something at the heart of this work: when life is hard, we don’t have to face it alone.

The song celebrates resilience, the ups and downs we all experience, and the connection that helps us keep going. It even includes a playful rap verse featuring the Resilience Habit Animals.

I appreciate how much you care about the well-being of our youth. Thank you for being on this journey with me!
