What is Mindful and Self-Compassionate Yoga?

Mindfulness is a resource that brings us into the present moment. Mindfulness can be practiced in stillness, and it can also be practiced while moving. Mindful and Self-Compassionate Yoga is designed to increase mindful awareness of the body.

Self-Compassion is the art of treating ourselves as we would treat a good friend. Compassionately attuning to, strengthening and stretching our bodies is an act of self-compassionate.

Yoga is a resource that strengthens and calms the mind, body and nervous system. Combined mindfulness, self-compassion, and yoga practice create an unshakeable foundation for well-being.

How is class structured?

Each session begins with a theme and drop-in followed by gentle stretching and strengthening. Each class ends with time for relaxation.

  • Classes entitled “Mindful Yoga” are 60 minutes in length and include a 5-minute relaxation.
  • Classes entitled “Self-Compassionate Yoga” are 75 minutes to allow time for an extended guided self-compassion meditation at the end of class.

All yoga classes with Jamie Lynn incorporate both mindfulness and self-compassion.

Jamie Lynn Tatera is a certified Mindful Self-Compassion teacher with over 500 hours of training in Yoga and Yoga Therapy.
