Self-Compassion for Shame Course
Shame is everywhere! We all feel it because we all wish to belong. And self-compassion is the antidote to shame.
What is self-compassion for shame?
This course for MSC graduates is designed to help us understand and heal from shame. We will strengthen our ability to bring awareness and self-compassion to shame whenever it arises. Become empowered to grow, stretch and loosen the grip of shame.
In this eight-week course, participants will learn to:
- Liberate yourself from shame’s trance of unworthiness.
- Identify the moments when shame arises in your life.
- Transform your view of shame – a universal and innocent emotion.
- Heal the parts of you that carry shame.
- Understand the sources of body shame and how self-compassion can help you appreciate your body.
- Use self-compassion to begin to forgive yourself for past wrongs.
- Unlock yourself from the grip of this powerful emotion through your own compassionate presence.
Self-Compassion for Shame course content was developed by Dr. Christopher Germer. This class is taught by Jamie Lynn Tatera, a certified Mindful Self-Compassion instructor and Barbara Moser, a trained Self-Compassion for Shame teacher.

“Jamie Lynn is an exceptional human being and teacher. I teach myself and am somewhat “picky” when it comes to facilitation, but she ticked all the boxes from holding space to being kind and making things interesting, sharing personal experience, being knowledgeable and having a solid own practice… I cannot thank her enough for her kindness and wisdom. –MSC participant
